I grew up out of nigeria, but now do visit frequently. I purchase about three newspapers when i arrive, try to read them, and give up. Other Nigerians do read these though, and find nothing wrong with them. Maybe, language does evolve, and Nigerian English is evolving in its own way, unless you remember that the use of Cliches and big words, which Nigerians think betray learning, actually does the reverse. England and America went through the same thinking, only a century ago.
