He admitted things to you but continued what he was doing anyway. The week before he fell sick, he was in Akure where he alerted his audience about the dangers of Fulani and Islam. He also told the audience that boko haram has reserved beheading for Christian captives - which is a shameful, barefaced lie. Everyone knows that as recently as November 2020, over 40 Muslim farmers were beheaded by boko haram in Zabarmari, Borno state. His admission was clealy not sincere but an attempt get into the good books of a very influential columnist. He was just scared of having you as a critic.Mohammed Bellohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05039491231210848459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2625710219374323467.post-63158571609554009412021-09-25T13:02:15.257-04:002021-09-25T13:02:15.257-04:00Are you suggesting that the federal government is ...Are you suggesting that the federal government is blameless and only ASUU wants to destroy Nigerian universities?

Mailafia's animus toward Fulani people--as a consequence of the personal tragedies he suffered in the hands of Fulani people-- has support in psychology and evolutionary biology. It isn't unique to him. Studies have shown that many otherwise racially indifferent white people become racist toward black people after they have been robbed by a black person.

It's unreasonable because it exteriorizes the crime of one person to the entire group, but it happens. It's how we evolved as a species to avoid danger and preserve our lives. We evolved to make snap judgments about entire populations based on isolated experiences with members of the population. The fact that Mailafia realized and admitted to me that he was a victim of that phenomenon, for me, was impressive. Not many people have that kind of self-awareness. Farooq A. You have been too kind towards Dr Mailafia but I can understand why. We all view people in a better way, no matter how negative their public persona is, after we have had a pleasant personal interaction with them. I have experienced it too. But the record out there is that Mailafia hasn't only expressed anger about violence, criminality and bad leadership in Nigeria, he has specifically expressed hate towards the Fulani ethnic group in its entirety. That cannot be explained by psychological trauma from the violence that is endemic in our communities because he is not the only one traumatised by it. Most of the people who are affected by the violence have refrained from expressing hate against entire ethnic groups. We should not begin to 'understand' public expressions of hate because it will put us on a slippery slope.Mohammed Bellohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05039491231210848459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2625710219374323467.post-71940042533987676612021-09-25T02:00:58.768-04:002021-09-25T02:00:58.768-04:00Re: Adamu Adamu Takes A Swipe At Prof. Wole Soyink...Re: Adamu Adamu Takes A Swipe At Prof. Wole Soyinka
It will be foolhardy for anyone who understands Nigerian government and politics to vouch for any minister or government appointee based on his sterling pedigree when out of government. That is the case of Adamu Adamu.
Almost three months ago in my article titled 'Re-Adamu Adamu takes a swipe at Prof. Wole Soyinka', I wrote:

"As for Adamu Adamu, he is in government as the Minister of Education. Despite his wealth of knowledge and the virtue he is known for, the Education Ministry which he is ministering is in comatose—this needs no explanation."

"Should we blame Malam Adamu for it? This is debatable. What seems not to be debatable is that once you join this government, you are mysteriously incapacitated. If there are few exceptions who prove this assertion wrong, they are negligibly few of the few."

Should I just say say only God can solve Nigeria's problem? If I err in saying so I will admit my error. I am just disappointedly disappointed because I am concerned.

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09688181474536916308noreply@blogger.com
