The congenital sadism that earned Buhari the nickname of Danliti mugu [Danliti the sadist] is neatly captured in this clip from Buhari's June 10 interview with Arise TV.

Many people are sharing it because of the jarring disconnect between the question the interviewer asked and the answer Buhari gave (which is by now Buhari's trademark) but watch toward the end of the clip to see why he is called a “mugu” (i.e., a sadist) in Daura).

Notice the perverse joy Buhari evinced in saying that there are no more vacancies, jobs, or contracts in federal, state, and local governments.

And he ended by saying, with malignant glee, “So, you may have a good degree but you may DIE WITHOUT EVEN A JOB!"

What halfway rational national leader derives joy in saying young people in his country with good degrees will die without jobs?

Recall that his characterization of Nigerian youth as lazy, uneducated, and parasitic was also a response to a question about investment opportunities in Nigeria’s northeast.

  1. Well, I don't think I will call him"mugu", but his amnesic disposition had been there b4 2015 election while he was campaigning. It was one good reason I didn't see him fit to rule an LG, even though he had been my celebrated hero as a military HOS. But my shock is why many educated preferred him to handle a more challenging era, with age failings coupled with waning, ungarnished education for a computer age-one who told Nigerians that he had always been with his cows. I don't really he has disappointed me bc I didn't expect much from him. My shock also is to the schooled university lecturers who were used as returning INEC officers in rigged areas. This is not to say, he might not have won without rigging!
